Use baby sounds and toys to familiarize your dog before an infant arrives.   

Have dad-to-be engage in caregiving like diapering dolls so dogs adjust to dad as caregiver.  

Establish nursery early so it’s viewed as baby domain, not dog’s disrupted space.   

Keep dogs out of nursery to avoid territorial marking or getting hair/dirt in baby items.  

Gradual schedule changes around baby’s needs allows dog's adaptation.   

Teach cues like “off” or “settle” to control jumping, nipping or barking.  

Positive reinforcement of gentle, calm behavior ensures good habits stick.
